Maak Zuidas 's avonds donker

Het dagelijks bestuur van Zuideramstel zal de komende jaren haar uiterste best doen om de lichthinder in de Zuidas te beperken. De stadsdeelraad heeft daarover dinsdagavond unaniem een motie van de PvdA aangenomen.
Omwonenden klagen al jaren over de toenemende lichtinval in de avond en nachtelijke uren van de kantoorgebouwen aan de Zuidas. De PvdA heeft in deze motie gehoor gegeven aan de oproep van bewoners. PvdA fractielid Estella Heesen: “Het is van de gekke dat de verlichting in de kantoren niet wordt uitgedaan nadat iedereen naar huis is. Met deze motie roepen wij het dagelijks bestuur op om tegen deze enorme enrgieverspilling actie te ondernemen.”

Geen draagvlak voor parkeergarage

In een Draagvlakmeting van Onderzoek & Statistiek zegt slechts 1 op de 14 respondenten zeker gebruik te willen maken van een parkeergarage Churchilllaan.

Woningen op de Zuidas

De PvdA stelt voor om op de Zuidas 1000 tijdelijke woningen voor studenten en jonge internationals te bouwen. De vraag naar kantoorruimte is drastisch ingezakt door de crisis. Hierdoor zijn geplande bouwprojecten uitgesteld. De PvdA-fracties in gemeenteraad en stadsdeelraad stellen voor op deze locaties tijdelijk woningen voor studenten en jonge internationals te bouwen. Hiernaar bestaat veel vraag: het tekort aan studentenhuisvesting in Amsterdam wordt geschat op 12.700 en voor buitenlandse studenten op 2.000 woningen.

Accounting Office sharply criticised

In 2007, the Amsterdam Accounting Office caused a commotion with an investigation into subsidies and conflicts of interest in the Zuidoost District. Now the Accounting Office itself is sharply criticised by a committee headed by André Krouwel (Vrije Universiteit), created by the districts. The quality of the investigations would be ‘poor’ and the Accounting Office should not even have done the Zuidoost investigation itself.

Director Victor Eiff of the Accounting Office says that he has sent a response to the district councils, “that answers all questions.” As long as the documents have not yet been made public, he declines to further comment on the evaluation.

Stalin Avenue enigma solved

This spring, neighbourhood photographer Louis Hofman discovered a street sign saying ‘Stalinlaan’ (Stalin Avenue) at the Vrijheidslaan. “Restalinisation in the Rivierenbuurt? A forgotten piece of scenery in a movie set between 1953 and 1956? Or just a joke from a confirmed old-fashioned follower of Soviet Communism?” – weblog Rivierenbuurt wondered.

After the Second World War, Stalin got his own street in the Rivierenbuurt, just like Churchill and Roosevelt. In 1956, after the Soviets had invaded Hungary, the Stalinlaan was renamed Vrijheidslaan (Freedom Avenue).

On list of candidates by accident

Number 10 of the list of SP candidates for the Zuid District Council is Jan van Delden. By mistake, he says: he is not available as a candidate for the SP. A spokesperson of the party confirms that a mistake has been made.

Van Delden is currently the only SP council member in Zuideramstel. The SP had 4 representatives on this council, but 3 left the party after a conflict in 2007.
