In 2011, the Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority has given 92 fines and 13 cautions for breaches of the smoking ban by bars and restaurants in Amsterdam. There are no known cases of bars being closed. Over 1,200 inspections have been carried out, including 180 of bars. The authority has agreements with various police stations that can offer support in case of incidents. This was announced by the municipality in response to questions from Johnas van Lammeren (Partij voor de Dieren).
