Legal action against public transport strike
The municipal transport company (GVB) is applying for an injunction in order to prevent a work stoppage during the morning rush next Wednesday, reports lawyer Els Seebregts of trade union ABVAKABO FNV on Twitter. Unions are preparing a day of action against plans to raise the retirement age.
The government wants to raise the age at which people can get a state pension from 65 to 67. Unions argue that this cut will disproportionately affect people with low incomes. They have presented an alternative plan, which makes the retirement age flexible, but this plan was rejected by employers’ organisations last Wednesday.
Across the country, unions will be organising 65-minute actions next Wednesday, including one at the Nieuwmarkt in Amsterdam.
UPDATE 6 October - The court has banned the strike; other actions will be held as planned. This includes the action at the Nieuwmarkt

Do your bit. Connect your every day activities supporting sustainable transport and benefit your own health. One way of doing so, is to consider which mode of transport would be best for a specific trip instead of just choosing the car or the plane by routine.
