‘Ghost letter’ warns of high parking fees

16 October 2007 - Last week, residents of the Maasstraat area received a letter announcing that parking fees will be raised to 3.75 euro per hour during the day and 2.50 at night, because ‘serious parking problems’ are emerging. However, the letter is a fake.

Recipients may have figured out themselves that there is something wrong with the letter, which has the letter heads of the municipal research and economic affairs departments, but the signature of district chairman Duco Adema.

Adema sent residents a letter to inform them the letter is a fake: “Parking fees will remain unchanged”. That is, of course, unless the municipality decides to raise them in order to fight air pollution.
